[edit] Log in or register
To amend or add pages you must be registered and logged in. If you haven't registered, it is very quick and easy.
[edit] Editing a page
Editing an existing page is very easy. Just click on the edit tab at the top of the page, or on a long page at any heading, and start changing the text. Changing to edit mode will reveal the basic wiki code for things like headings. If you want to include the contents of power point slides, use the template called ppp.
- First bullet point
- Second bullet point
Set it up like this:
You cannot upload documents to the wiki, but if you have complete presentations or other documents that you would like other users to be able to access, or would like them to see images, then you can e-mail them to David Irwin and he will make them available via www.businessadvocacy.net.
[edit] Creating a new page
Creating pages is also very easy. Think of a suitable name. Write it into the search box on the sidebar. If it doesn't exist, then the wiki will give you the option of creating a new page. Then type into it just as if you were editing an existing page.
[edit] Referencing pages
If you want to link a page to an existing category, such as Fact sheets, or Training materials, or Research, then you need to add a link - use two left hand square brackets, then Category: and then the name of the page followed by two right hand square brackets. This will put a link at the bottom of the new page and also link it from the relevant category page. If you want to look at an example, have a look at the source of an existing page with a link.
[edit] Referencing external sites
Referencing external sites is also very easy. This time you just require one open and one closing square bracket. The web address needs the full address including http:// Leave a space after the address and then give the description that you want to be highlighted.
[edit] More instructions
If you want more help, then have a look at the more detailed instructions available on Mediawiki's own website. If you need specific help linking to a page on the wiki, or are not sure where to link, or want to start a new category then contact David Irwin.
